Kimi K3.1 Pro targets coding and 3D work; downloadable weights are still ahead
AI Assisted
Moonshot AI announced Kimi K3.1 Pro on October 23, 2026, positioning it for coding, 3D creation and long-running agent tasks. Its announcement says the model and a faster Highspeed variant are available through Kimi products and its API. This article was published October 27.
What developers can try now
The company describes K3.1 Pro as a post-trained successor to K3 with a one-million-token context window. In its technical blog, Moonshot highlights coding in game engines, scripting for Blender and CAD, and agent workflows. Those are the developer’s descriptions of intended uses, not proof that any particular project will work without review.
Moonshot reports a 65.7% Terminal-Bench 4.0 result for K3.1 Pro, evaluated using the Claude Code harness. That is a company-reported benchmark, not an AiBrainWorX test. Different tools, settings and tasks can change results. Moonshot says its Highspeed variant provides two to three times the speed of standard Pro; we have not verified that claim.
Local use: weights and terms are not here yet
The company says full model weights will be released by November 4, 2026. That is a planned date, not confirmation that a download is available today. Check the eventual official model card and its license before installing or redistributing any files. There is no verified claim here that the model fits on a consumer 12 GB GPU.
Moonshot says it removed certain cybersecurity-related training material and evaluated the resulting model for security risks. The effect and limits are described in its technical blog; a vendor’s safety evaluation is not a guarantee that an agent is safe to run with unrestricted tools. Keep permissions appropriate to the task and review code and actions.
