Boston Dynamics introduced Stretch Gen 2 on November 3, an updated autonomous mobile robot for unloading trailers. The company says the redesign draws on more than 100,000 operating hours from its first generation.

Less wiring, faster repairs

Boston Dynamics says it reduced internal cabling by 81%, redesigned connectors and gripper sensing, and introduced continuous rotation joints. It says a complete swerve-drive replacement can now take roughly an hour instead of a full day. These are manufacturer-reported figures; we have not inspected or tested the robot.

The company advertises up to 1,000 cases per hour, depending on load weight and stacking conditions. Its onboard software is intended to improve detection and motion planning over time. Stretch is an industrial unloading system, not a general-purpose household humanoid.
