A September 26 MPC Forums post by zangetsu01 demonstrated work under the heading HAKAI on GEN2 / MPC XL jailbreak. The original post linked a video and said that no release date had been set at that point. Our source check and this article are dated October 28.
Keep the claims separate
A demonstration, a downloadable release and a supported installation are three different milestones. The forum post establishes that a developer showed work; it does not establish that every MPC model can safely run the same package. We have not flashed a device or verified a current universal installer.
Claims about running plugins also need detail. A plugin’s operating system, processor architecture, format and license matter. A desktop plugin being available on Windows is not evidence that its binary will run on an embedded Linux instrument.
What to check before going further
Look for an exact device list, a maintained source or release page, a recovery procedure and a clear account of what has actually been tested. Community firmware is not the same as an Akai-supported update. We are linking the original discussion for readers who want to follow the work; we are not distributing firmware, recommending a flash or suggesting that paid plugins become freely licensed.
